From the opening credits and a shot from behind the wheel as a bus pulls into a roadside diner at night, Otto Preminger's superb, seedy film noir thriller is almost as good as his classic Laura (1944) and is arguably also the equal of the later Whirlpool (1949), Where the Sidewalk Ends (1949) and Angel Face (1952). Preminger's fastidious attention to detail and silky camera movements match the standout performances from a strong cast. This rare re-release insert from 1953 has very nice and slightly different art to the classic one sheet.
